| Incident Paratrooper Bryan Budd, who died on 20 August, 2006, aged 29, was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for acts of "inspirational leadership and the greatest valour." Corporal Budd, a father-of-two, from Ripon in North Yorkshire, was serving with the 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, in Helmand province in southern Afghanistan when he was killed in a gun battle with Taliban insurgents. | |
