| Incident Private Damian Wright, from Mansfield, who was serving in Afghanistan with the newly-formed Mercian Regiment, died on 5 September, 2007, aged 23, when his patrol was hit by a roadside bomb. His friend and colleague was also killed instantly in the explosion. He had a young son. | |
